Iran’s population isn’t young - it’s middle aged by global standards.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. I looked up Ida Turan. One would think she is a fly on the wall in the situation room—but she is not. If he is so clever how did he fail to see the regime’s potential for “mischief” in the Strait of Hormuz? There is no reason to think he can pull off what she suggests.

The harms his policies here in the US have caused are countless. The both of them— he and his Secretary of Defense—oh my mistake, Secretary of War—are unqualified and incompetent in their roles. What she suggests may be his plan, but there is no reason to believe he can pull it off.

Sorry, there is no Trump plan and Kushner is part of the problem not the solution. Trump is only interested in himself and no one else. If by some miracle this works out it will only be by luck 🍀 and not as a result of any grand strategy.

The one critical thing that she leaves out.....Saudi's are all about Wahhabism. That is their "sect" of Islam. They will never, never join the Accords. And for Israelis and Jews they are NEVER to be trusted.

I call it wishful thinking 🤔

Too much credit for Trump and his lot.

This is a nice opinion piece but full of ire and vitriol against Iran and the "enemies" of Israel, and it is full of errors and name-calling as well. Trumpstein never has had an organized thought since his election 12 year ago and this fool's errand of an attack on Iran was so poorly planned and thought out that it is a textbook case of military and political/economic blundering. Iran MUST be dealt with, especially on the nuclear and political front but not this way.

The Islamic Republic made a gross miscalculation when it gambled that it could intimidate the Gulf Arabs into taking its side. The Trump Administration used the MOU to demonstrate to the Gulf countries that the Iranian regime will not willingly back down from its insistence on turning the Gulf into a Persian lake, no matter what appeasement they offer. Ms. Turan makes a great point about the Houthis: the US deciding to delay decisive action against them puts additional pressure on Saudi Arabia to commit fully to the American vision for the Gulf.

One hopes that there is a clandestine effort to equip the Iranian people to conduct an armed uprising once the IRGC and Basij are sufficiently degraded and vulnerable. That presumes that the main military campaign continues and has the effect of weakening the internal security forces in Iran.
