It's for reasons/people like this that, several years ago a loyalty pledge law was considered.

It's one thing to be entitled to an opinion. It's a VASTLY different matter if that opinion calls for the destruction of the country in which you live and in which you serve in some official capacity. The latter is absolutely not acceptable.

sally abed calls for the destruction of the country.

In my opinion Haifa is a model of "du kium" , co-existance that does NOT exist in many Israeli cities, and I feel it every time I am in Haifa( I live on a kibbutz nearby)

Maybe one of the reasons is that everyone has their opinion and feel free to express themselves.

Sorry, there was meant to be a question mark at the END OF THE FIRST SENTENCE.

I understood about the question mark without you having to say so. At the same time, I think you can edit your comments.

As I wrote in the article, everyone has their right to their opinion. But the law clearly states that incitement to violence or against the state is against the law. Freedom of expression is limited, in other words. We can debate on whether or not telling citizens in other countries to ask their governments to place an arms embargo on Israel is within or beyond the bounds of freedom of expression.

You can edit comments only on some substats in the same way that you can hear audio readout on some substax, I cannot like or comment on Melanie Phillips substack, substack is odd like that, look how voice transcription still doesn't understand substack in the way that it's misspelled it throughout this comment section on substax

Does Abed realize that if her family was in the way of the murderers of OCtober 7 being Arab would not have saved them? Does she not get what this war is all about? She sounds incredibly stupid.

I don't know any, except a handful of horrible people on the right, who do not feel some sort of angst or upsettness about the innocent loss of life in gaza. Does she think Jews have parties when children are killed, you know like the Palestinians do when Jewish children are murdered? (Speaking of the numbers, how interesting of her to take the number put out by Hamas at face value. I guess we know which side she really is on dont we.)

I can't tell you what to do in Haifa or how to handle your politics.

And there is such a thing as free speech- but even in the US free speech does have its limits.

At the least the woman should censored by others on the city council.

I wouldn't call her stupid. I wouldn't call her anything, to tell you the truth. I don't understand what goes through the head of an Arab Israeli who knows Bedouin Israelis were killed and abducted by Hamas and there were Arab Israelis who rushed in to save Jewish lives on that day.

The others on the council were in an uproar over what she posted. I don't understand why they do not dismiss her. Perhaps the court would not allow it -- as the Supreme Court reverses decisions of the Knesset ethics committee who have denied the right of terrorist supporters to run for national elections.

I'm that horrible person on the right who sheds no tears for the non existence supposedly innocent in Gaza, they're all complacent complicit and guilty. Look to how the Allies re-educated Germany after the war and you'll be getting to see 10% of how bad they are

Even on Passover we spill wine to remember that our freedom was bought at the expense of innocent lives. And yes it is horrible if you don't see suffering on the other side. It doesn't matter that this is all Hamas and Iran's fault. I refuse to lose my humanity simply because others are inhumane.

It’s very interesting how, in 2004, Avigdor Lieberman suggested incorporating Arab towns in the Triangle area into a proposed Palestinian state. The residents of those towns vigorously opposed the idea and wanted no part of it. I wonder if Sally Abed would be happy with the idea.

Can a member of city council be impeached?

I don't know. But at least she could be dismissed from the coalition. That can be done.

Nobody was ever expecting the Druze children to become targets. They nor their families ever wanted to be "Shahid."

Now I wonder if targeting them was a veiled threat to the Druze to stay out of Hezbollah's war.

And one thing I could not help but notice, and have not verified, was that one of the dead boys was named "Guevarra."

Jews don’t need enemies to serve anywhere. They certainly don’t represent the ruach of Israel.

Hillel said stand up for yourself FIRST.
