The Oslo Accords, that created the Palestinian Authority, divided the land previously under Jordanian occupation until recaptured by Israel into Areas A, B, and C. Oy! What a mess!
Thank you for this clear explanation. It cuts through the confusion and misunderstandings that plague the issues in Judea and Samaria. Much appreciated
This is the best explainer on areas A. B, C, I've seen. Thanks for digging out some of the details and complications. Map is great.
I'd sure be interested in understanding why Israel wouldn't/doesn't declare the Accords and Interim Agreement invalid in the face of numerous ongoing breaches of same. Since Israel conquered the region in 1967 (including Gaza), they have the right to determine who lives there and how. I understand Israel was trying to establish peace post war, but we can see how that is working out.
It seems bad governance to allow a group of people whose only desire is seeing you exterminated to maintain a presence. Perhaps Israel makes an offer: 1) please stay if you wish to remain a peaceful and law-abiding, conditional citizen of Israel or 2) we will happily provide transportation to the border of your choice, please do not attempt to return. (A follow-up Substack?)
There is also the whole matter of Torah. It seems pretty settled in Arab minds who the rightful heirs are to a G-d given land endowment; especially one given in perpetuity, as I read the text. See Sheri's Substack https://rebrand.ly/m0y2el9.
There are many in Israel who would like to see the Oslo Accords determined null and void.
And there has been the idea floating around for years to extend our sovereignty to all of Judea-Samaria and invite all Arabs who are willing to declare loyalty to the state to become permanent (non-voting) residents perhaps leading to citizenship at some point in the future.
The Palestinians in eastern Jerusalem neighbourhoods that were reunited with Jerusalemin 1967 have been offered citizenship but most do not apply. I don’t understand the entire situation.
I appreciate the way you get into the nuts and bolts here. Very helpful.

Thanks for the map.
I believe despite many informal allegations about vialations by both sides, when asked formally they always say it still holds.
They do. That does not mean it has not been violated.
Thank you for the clarity
Please let me know if there is anything else about Judea-Samaria you would like to write about.
