Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn. Again, stupid male self-importance throws real fruits of a struggle away! Left to themselves further, the women might not only have built roads but actually deepened both the struggle and the nonviolent quality with which it partly began--and made themselves a REAL danger to the Israeli right!

Abba Eban was only too right: 'The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.'

And do you know what would be a great head-covering instead of hijabs? Baseball caps! They could have even formed 'teams'! Seriously.

It was the left who replaced Madrid with Oslo and brought the men back. So confused.

It's still stupid male self-importance, with whatever political labels.

Sad to think what "might have been".

Women would have built civilian infrastructure instead of tunnels and rocket launchers. Anyway, I think that’s how they would do it. Gaza coulda been a contender. But what else was their motivation in intifada? Was it to cleanse the land of Jews from the river… etc?

Yes, they likely would have built civilian infrastructure because they were concerned with people’s everyday lives. But that does not necessarily mean that they would not have supported the building of tunnels and rocket launchers. Their motivation was to free themselves of Israeli control over their lives — it is not clear whether or not they wanted to eliminate the entire State of Israel.

Being history ignoramus, I would appreciate further information about Israeli control over the lives

of those people. Especially I am interested in whether they felt religious persecution and economic degradation of their lives compared to what it was prior to the establishment of Israel. I am honestly seeking knowledge of how we came to deserve suicide bombers and massacres. Obviously the destruction of Gaza infrastructure will cause further resentment, as will collateral damage to civilian life. The elected government of Hamas already tells us it is genocide even as they dress in civilian garb to be snipers and it is impossible to tell a killer from a grocer.
